A Message from the Deputy Head Teacher
|
|
Dear Parents and Carers,
Another month seems to be whizzing by and it won’t be long before we are all opening the first door on our advent calendars! Christmas is my favourite time of year and working in a primary school makes it even more special. As has been the case with lots of elements of school life over the past nine months, we are having to consider how we can make our usual Christmas events happen in school whilst keeping everyone safe. The staff have once again shown incredible resilience and creativity and we have come up with ways to make this Christmas just as special in school, just slightly different! No spoilers from me I’m afraid but there are lots of things to look forward to.
We continue to have a small handful of children having to take days off school due to suspected or confirmed cases of covid in their homes or with people they have had contact with and we appreciate parents and carers keeping us informed of each situation.
If your child is at home but is well enough to complete school work, we have the Digital Village section of the website for you to access. There has been a little confusion over which link to use on this page. To help out, please follow these instructions:
If your child is self-isolating as an individual, please click here to access work for you child or use the following link:
https://www.owps.org.uk/page/?title=Individual+Home+Learning&pid=240
Alternatively, head directly to the Digital Village page and select the first icon :
If your child’s whole class bubble is self-isolating, you would either use the other links on this page (Years FS, 1, 2 and 3) or access the work set on Google Classroom (Years 4, 5 and 6).
If you encounter any problems with home learning, please contact the school and we will be happy to help.
I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend.
Colin Marks
Deputy Head Teacher

This week, we are proud to publish a piece of work by children in the Penguins, Giraffes, Flamingoes and Sharks.
|
|
| 20 Nov 2020 Ellie from the Penguins enjoyed learning about houses and enjoyed drawing pictures to show what is in her home as part of our topic on Ourselves and Home. | |
|
| 19 Nov 2020 Millie from the Giraffes created a piece of Art in the style of Aloys Zotl as part of our work in Art. She listened to a description of the animal, drew and painted what she thought it would look like, and then used collage to create the background. | |
|
| 19 Nov 2020 In Art, Flynn from the Flamingoes created a print of Mount Vesuvius erupting which also linked to our work on Extreme Earth in Geography. | |
|
| 19 Nov 2020 Antoni from the Sharks created a playing card with mixed media using a combination of collage, pencil, charcoal, tissue paper and paint. He included a picture of his head as a substitute for the King. The artwork is linked to our British Monarchy topic. | |

If Your Child is Absent from School
By Mrs Russell, School Office
We are noticing an increase in the number of times parents/carers are not informing the school when their child is absent. Please be reminded of the following procedure taken from our Attendance Policy:
If your child is absent you must:
- Contact us as soon as possible on the first day of absence, and every day thereafter until your child returns to school;
- Send a note in on the first day they return with an explanation of the absence – you must do this even if you have already telephoned us;
- Or, you can call into school and report to reception, who will arrange for a member of staff to speak with you.
If your child is absent, we will:
- Telephone, text or email you on the first day of absence if we have not heard from you;
- Invite you in to discuss the situation with us;
- Take legal action if there are persistent absences, which may be in the form of Penalty Notices issued to each parent/carer for each child.
Thank-you!

Shoebox Appeal
The national collection week for the Shoebox Appeal has been delayed due to the Lockdown until Thursday 26th November, so we have therefore extended the collection of completed boxes until then. These will then be safely packed and processed by a local church group.
