Dear Parents and Carers,
It has definitely felt like the 'Autumn' term this week! We are rapidly approaching the end of September already and school life is in full swing. We have had several visitors to the school recently, including Lorraine Greco, the OWN Trust's new CEO and Mary Foreman, the Chair of Trustees for the OWN Trust, and they have all commented on the positive, calm and purposeful feel around the school. Teachers are working hard to implement the teaching and learning strategies we are focusing on this term and the children are all responding well to the increased expectations that come with a new year group.
Year Six Family Learning
It was great to see so many family members join our Year Six children for our first 'Family Learning' event of the year. We are looking at how we teach GPS (Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling) across the school and our Family Learning sessions will be spent looking at this area of the curriculum. I think some of our guests were a little surprised at what our pupils are expected to know, understand and use in their own writing!
Hilltop
Reports back from Hilltop and the team there would suggest that they are all having a great time! The weather hasn't stopped them doing any of the activities and I shall be posting some photos on our school's Facebook page later today. I know the children and staff will all return to school exhausted later on. A big thank you to Miss. Tansley, Mrs. Aldred, Mrs. Dar and Miss. Hamdouni for taking such good care of the children.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.
