Dear Parents/Carers,
My first newsletter of the new school year and so I would like to wish you all a belated welcome back! We are already a full two weeks into the new academic year and our new Foundation Stage children will be with us full time from Monday; it has been lovely to see how settled they are becoming. The weeks have whizzed by so far and the school remains a hive of activity. The children are really stepping-up and working hard on new routines, expectations and relationship building with new peers and adults and our hope for calm learning environments are really starting to show.
Think for the Future Mentoring
This week, Gavin, our Think for the Future Mentor, returned to Orton Wistow to re-establish some of the behaviour, resilience and mentoring programme with some of our KS2 pupils. This year he will begin to work with children from all year groups within KS2, and we hope that if you see him on the playground that you say hello. He will be wearing purple, so blends in with our Year 6 pupils – keep your eyes peeled.
Uniform
The children have returned to school looking exceptionally smart in their new uniform. Thank you for ensuring your child/ren are coming to school wearing the correct items on both uniform and PE days. The new Year 6 cohort have donned their new purple jumpers and are stepping into their new roles at the top of the school and Mr Marks commented that their uniform in assembly on Monday was pretty perfect across the year group. Well done.
FOWS
Our Friends of Wistow parent association are looking for new members to join them. They have a couple of upcoming events, if you could spare some time to help volunteer to support the school. More information can be found on the main school gate, so please do take a look. The work they do to help fundraise for the school is vital and with your support, they can continue to make a difference.
Adult Lunch Bookings
This week we have created an online form for family members to book a school lunch with their child. This has been a huge success, with many of you having already made a booking. If you wish to book a lunch, please click on the following link: Orton Wistow Primary School - Adult Lunch Bookings (owps.org.uk), and we look forward to welcoming you throughout the school year.
Have a lovely weekend.
