Year 5- Hilltop Residential
Last week, 44 Year 5 children embarked on three days of adventurous activity at Hilltop Outdoor Centre in Norfolk. During their visit, the children were encouraged to embrace 'challenge by choice', the motto for the centre, with the hope that many of them would step slightly out of their comfort zone to undertake activities which they may find difficult. This motto links brilliantly to the Learning Tools we promote at OWPS, with many of our pupils needing to find some resilience, persevere and work as a team.
Over the time spent at the centre the children took part in: Caving, Tree Top Trail, Air Jump, Rock Climbing, Assault Course, Big Zipper and Bushcraft. We were exceptionally well looked after by the staff (both activity and catering teams) and we even managed to stay predominantly dry despite some heavy overnight showers!
It is a super residential and one I have been part of multiple times, yet once again the children amazed me with the level of support they gave each other throughout the visit. A huge thank you to Mrs Dar, Mrs Aldred and Miss Hamdouni for joining the trip too - I hope everyone is well rested since our return.
