  • Premier League Stars Cup

    Published 07/03/25

The girls made Wistow history today, being the first Girls football team to represent Peterborough United at the Southern Regional final's day for the Premier League Stars Cup. We played 5 games in our group, with the likes of Tottenham Hotspurs and Luton in there. We won 3 and lost 2. A heroic effort from the girls who competed against the best played in the south of the country. As we finished 3rd in the group it meant we didn't qualify to the final stage. A brilliant journey for the girls this year and they have made us all proud every step of the way. Well done Girls, you're all winners!

  • OWPS ESSFA U11 County Finals

    Published 14/02/25

Having qualified for the count finals day having won a competition in Peterborough, we headed off to Cambridge to compete against the best team in the county.

We started off playing Bushmead, with the games being 7 minutes a half, it meant that the girls didn't need to panic. A few minutes into the half the girls managed to score a great goal, with the final result ending 5-0. We then played Fordham, a very good team, with some excellent players. It was an amazing match to watch, both sides battled to earn a 2-2 draw. We knew we had to win the last game to qualify, and we did so right at the death, we went 1-0 down to turn it around with a 2-1 win. This put us into the semi finals, we played 2nd in the other group due to us winning ours. It started off as a cagey game, but Wistow came out 3-0 winners. This meant we were the finalist. We met with Fordham again. The game finished 2-0 to Fordham who thoroughly deserved the win.

I couldn't be prouder of the girl's team. Considering half of team had never played football before to now being the second-best team in Cambridgeshire is a massive achievement.

  • Year 5/6 Netball Match

    Published 07/02/25

Last Thursday, the Year 5/6 Netball Team welcomed St Johns Church School for a netball game at Wistow. I was really proud of how polite and welcoming the girls were, as this was our first time hosting a game this academic year. For a few of the girls, this was their first ever netball game. They showed determination and perseverance throughout, and it was wonderful to see their confidence develop as the match went on. I am looking forward to seeing them put the new skills they learnt during this match into practice! Well done girls!

  • Girls Win U11 Premier League Regional Cup

    Published 13/12/24

On Tuesday 3rd November, the girls football team walked down to the Idverde Training Ground (POSH’s training pitches) to take part in the city-wide qualifier for the Premier League U11’s Cup. A competition which sees lots of schools compete with some brilliant players from other schools.

The competition was split into two large groups with each group having 9 teams in. The girls had to qualify in the top two to go through to the semi-finals. The girls played 8 group matches, winning all 8! That was impressive. They then went onto to win the semi-final 1-0 and enter the final. The girls played Elton in the final and won 1-0 in a great game of football.

The girls are the first team at Wistow to have won this competition and should be immensely proud of themselves. In March the girls will now represent Peterborough United and play against teams like Watford, Tottenham Hotspurs, MK Dons, Colchester and many more. If they win the southern finals, they then get to play at Wembley during the play-off final against the winners from the North!

Last Thursday, a group of boys from Year 5 and 6 had the chance to represent the school at a football tournament at Jack Hunt School.  Despite having never played together as a team before, they worked really well together and went from narrowly losing their first game 2-1, to winning the rest of their games without conceding a goal.  They behaved very well throughout, worked brilliantly together as a team and were a real credit to the school.

  • Netball Fixture

    Published 22/11/24

On Tuesday 12th November, the Year 5/6 netball team had their first fixture of the year. The girls had lots of nerves leading up to this event, but they couldn't have made me prouder. In the first quarter, the girls got to grips with marking their players. By the second half, it was amazing to see how much they had already learnt. We scored our first 3 goals in the second half, which was a massive confidence boost. The team showed great perseverance and I was proud of their sportsmanship and respect for Winyates. At our next training session, the girls were already implementing so many of the strategies, tips and tricks they had learnt from their game against Winyates. They are ready and raring to go and play their next game!
