Year 4 Assembly - 14th March 2023

I enjoyed learning the Mayan history and hearing what my child had been learning this term. The assembly was a great mix of storytelling, facts and songs. It was lovely that every child contributed if they wanted to.

What a super effort by all the students (and teachers!). OWPS is always so welcoming to parents and I love these opportunities to come in and see what the children have been working on.

They all did amazingly well and these sort of activities show what a range of learning opportunities are being provided to the children.

I always enjoy the 2 Can Learn visits, it's a great opportunity to have some 1 on 1 time with my child in their learning environment, it gives an insight into what he is learning about and creates such special memories for us both.

It was really nice to do something a bit different, making a parachute. I enjoyed being able to do something practical and engaging with my child.

The 'make do and mend' session was really enjoyable.  It was great to see the creativity and thought process which had gone in to the design and bringing it to life.  Very creative and lots of fun had by both myself and my son.

Grandparents Lunches - November 2022

We are writing to thank you so very much for inviting us to join our granddaughter for lunch in Orton Wistow School on Wednesday.

We had an amazing time from the moment we went through the school gates to leaving the school.  The teachers, Teaching Assistants, and Catering Staff were incredible, and the food was excellent.  We both left the school on such a 'high'.

Our grandchild has just started her educational journey, but we feel that in the few weeks that she has been attending she has learnt so much, and is really enjoying the experience.

Our grandchild, we are certain, will develop remarkably from the care, help and support of Orton Wistow School.  Thanks to you and all of the staff once again.

Year Two 2 Can Learn - 14th July 2022

My daughter was super excited for me to come and work with me that morning. It was great to see her enjoy learning new skills - sewing and having fun. She showed me how proud she was of her final work (building the bond between schools and home).

I really enjoyed this session. It was a fantastic opportunity to be part of a lesson and for the kids to share this with us. It was interactive with lots of practical activities. It was well run and very organised. Well done Year 2 team!

Fantastic transition evening lots of information to take on board, lovely to meet my child’s new teacher and see the classroom and listen to what her next year will entail.

Good to see new tools being brought in to freshen up teaching of phonics (even though my child in KS2), also the Sir Linkalot program appears to be immersive and a good addition to the teaching of spelling and the history of our English words.

Year 3 Assembly - 29th June 2022

It was clear to see a lot of effort was put into this Year 3 assembly. It was great to see the children looking so excited to show off what they've been working so hard at learning. It was nice that the children had the option to have lines if they wanted some, and if not, they still had a just as an important part to play. Thank you, Mr Newton and Miss Strike for putting it together so well.

The visit was an amazing experience. Children had a chance to come around and show me the places where they usually work. It gave me more awareness about the school environment.

Wow! What a great and well-organised event. I came to the first session, we enjoyed a sausage roll and some flapjack in the pop-up café. A then showed me round the different wall displays, and then she grabbed her tray with all her books, and we sat in the café in a quiet area and looked through the books. It was a lovely, relaxed session, well done Wistow!

Such a lovely experience! I got to see two very excited, proud children. They got to show me their work and school at the same time. It bonded the parent/school relationship especially in their eyes.

My son has just started in Foundation stage and I must say Orton Wistow always get it spot on with children first starting school all of the staff and teachers in FS need a medal!! I wouldn't trust anyone more with my child's transition into school so a big thank you to each and everyone of you for making him feel so welcome and happy about coming to school. All my children have started with Ms Porter as a penguin. Ms Porter is an amazing teacher for many reasons and I can't thank her enough.

All of the teachers, staff and TA's at Orton wistow are amazing and my child being a SEN child they have made a huge impact on his life. Miss Tansley and Mrs Gash currently teach him and the help and support they have given us already for my child and as a family has been above and beyond. He is in year 6 now and as they say save the best till last!! Thank you to you all will never be enough.

End of An Era -  June 2018.

I would just like to say I was highly honoured that my son was asked to speak at this evenings presentation to the new foundation parents.  I can’t believe its nearly the end of an era for our boys at Wistow. 

I would like to take this chance to thank all the staff that have helped my children and best prepare them for their next step in school life.  It was a lovely touch and we just want to express our thanks

Honours Award -  May 2018.

Just a quick email to give thanks and recognition.

My daughter received an honours award today and it was a lovely little event. I have worried that her joining late would cause her to struggle but she is thriving and loves school. That is without doubt due to the wonderful staff and children in her class.

Today when I came in to work I had so many of the year 5 and 6 offer congratulations and praise to Ruby for her honours award that I felt overwhelmed and very proud of their fantastic team spirit and generous praise.

I felt a real sense of community today and I’m grateful to work in and have my daughter attend such a nurturing, positive environment.

FARM TO FARM - JANUARY 2018

I just wanted to drop a quick note to say that our son came home from the farm to fork day absolutely buzzing with all the activities he'd taken part in and the new information he'd learnt. It was obviously a really engaging day and definitely gave our son lots of insight into to where our food comes from and how to identify healthy and unhealthy foods (I've already been dragged around the supermarket checking the traffic lights!).

I'm not usually one for remembering to give feedback but the positive impact it had on him really stood out
