Meet the Local Governors
Dr Dharshanna Sridhar – MAT Governor
A geneticist and medical doctor, Dr Sridhar was head-hunted into policy-making at the heart of Government where she has over fourteen years of experience in advising successive Prime Ministers, taking forward significant Parliamentary legislations as well as working across central Government departments overseeing policy initiatives from devolution to setting up the UK’s first Supreme Court and many more, whilst also completing a doctorate in socio-legal studies during this time.
Having been a parent governor at an inner city primary school in London where she also chaired the finance committee, Dr Sridhar has significant experience in the role and was part of the core team responsible for leading the school from a ‘notice to improve’ to a ‘good’ Ofsted marking.
A strong advocate of empowering women and children to be true to themselves and achieve their full potential, she has also led voluntary expeditions to the rural areas of South Asia to help provide basic education and needs to the people. A voracious reader and a trained classical Indian dancer, Dr Sridhar loves to swim, play tennis or bake cakes, in her spare time.
Mark Bewick – Parent Governor
My name is Mark Bewick and I am the father of Chloe, who attends Orton Wistow Primary School, and Emily, who is currently in pre-school and should be joining in September 2019. I have lived in Orton Northgate for just over 4 years and in Peterborough all of my life.
My background is in Information Technology and for the last 13 years I have worked in Problem Management and Service Management roles – I currently work as Director of Service Management for a company called Refinitiv where I lead a global team of Service Managers improving service for employees and customers.
I like to innovate, I am transparent and I enjoy challenging the norm – I trust that my approach to work and life will compliment and adds value to “the school”.
Whilst this is my first role as Parent Governor, I am a parent and I care deeply about ensuring that my children and the children of others have every opportunity to succeed and that they receive the very best education. My commitments are to work hard to learn about the school and this important role; to support the children and staff (the “school”); and to work with others to deliver improvements.
Suzanne May – Parent Governor
I am a proud mother of two boys who currently attend Orton Wistow Primary School (OWPS), Archie (Year 2) and Freddie (Foundation). I have lived in Orton Wistow for 6 years and in the local area for my entire life. Having previously worked in senior management for Next Retail, I now work part time within a primary school office, and also as a swimming teacher.
As a parent I realise how important education is and how what they experience now at OWPS will shape the future they have ahead of them. We all want the best for our children, a good education within a school that cares about its pupils and their parents, allowing the children to achieve their potential in an exciting and enjoyable environment. We have all chosen OWPS based on the excellent work that they do, and as a parent governor I plan to support the school as they continue to strive for excellence.
I have experience of working within a school, which provides me with an understanding of the challenges faced on a daily basis. I believe the children’s interests and development should be at the heart of all decision making. I hope to bring a fresh pair of eyes and offer valuable input which will look to ensure that all our children are happy, confident and given every opportunity to realise their full potential.
Adam Green - MAT Governor
My name is Adam Green, I am Husband to Katie, Dad to both Harry (5) and Chloe (3). Harry is in the Iguana`s class with Mrs Ironside. We have lived in Orton Wistow for the last 18 months however I have lived in Peterborough all my life attending local schools.
I enjoy watching football, playing golf and reading (recently read ‘The coddling of the American mind’). I also enjoy days out and our holidays together as a family.
Professionally I work in Banking where I am employed by Barclays and have been for the last 16 years. I am currently the Regional Manager for our Business Banking Team however I have held a number of positions throughout my career.
I have really enjoyed my first two years as a MAT Governor at Orton Wistow where I have been able to support the school and its wider community, I look forward to visiting the school again soon.
Hayley Fidgett - Teacher Governor
I am Hayley Fidgett and I am Staff Governor.
I have been a member of staff at OWPS for the last 5 years and have been teaching both in the local area and internationally for 9 years. Having been educated at OWPS as a pupil myself, I feel very at home here!
In my time teaching at OWPS, I have worked and led teams in both KS1 and KS2. Additional to team leadership, I also hold roles in school leading the Computing curriculum and developing our website. I look forward to working alongside our governing body and experiencing the life of our school from a new perspective.
Kirsty Cleworth - MAT Governor
I have been a Governor at OWPS for a couple of years now, joining whilst my youngest daughter, Isabella was still at the school. Both my daughters attended the school from reception through to Year 6, as well as Platform 1.
I have worked in Peterborough throughout my entire career as a secondary school teacher. I am currently an Assistant Principal at Queen Katharine Academy with particular responsibility for raising standards in student progress. I have lived in Orton Wistow for the last 15 years, raising my family here.
I have always thought OWPS was a special school from the first time I walked on its playground to attend a summer fair before my girls ever attended the school. I was taken aback by the commitment the staff and parents were making (back then it was held on a Saturday) and the fact that all the effort was to raise funds to put back into the school. From being a parent I know how hard the staff work to ensure all the students are happy and well cared for as well as delivering quality first teaching.
As a Governor, I hope to use my professional experience as well as being a Mum and a previous parent of the school to hold the leadership team to account as well as support the school to develop in the future.
