The trip to London is a two night residential and offers a completely different experience to the Outdoor and Adventure activities of Hilltop.  This trip allows the children to spend time away from home and visit some of the many exceptional attractions our capital city has to offer.  We use Broadway Tours, a highly experienced school’s tours company to organise all the activities that are on offer and provides a coach for the whole time we are away, taking us to each of the booked attractions.

While we are away, we stay in suitable hotel accommodation which is set up for large group visits.  Children stay in rooms of between 4 and 6 children and breakfast and lunch are provided. 

Children enjoy two evening meals at chain restaurants and a trip to see a West End musical is one of the highlights of the whole residential visit.

An example of an itinerary for the London residential includes:

 Day 1 – Departure from school by coach in the morning to arrive in London around midday. A visit to London Zoo is followed by an afternoon trip on The London Eye. We are then transferred to our hotel and enjoy our first evening meal out at a chain restaurant.

Day 2 –A visit to The Natural History Museum - renowned for its brilliant dinosaur exhibition, this museum houses a vast collection items devoted to botany, entomology, mineralogy, palaeontology and zoology. See a life-sized blue whale, a 40-million-year-old spider, and countless other fascinating exhibits.                                                                                                    

After lunch we explore the Science Museum - The most visited science and technology museum in Europe, London’s Science Museum has over 15,000 objects on display including the Apollo 10 command capsule and Stephenson’s Rocket. With interactive exhibits and a 3D IMAX cinema, it’s a fantastic place to see, touch and experience science up close.

After another evening meal, we are taken to The West End to watch a musical production, e.g. The Lion King, Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Day 3 – Our final day is spent at The Globe Theatre – this includes a tour of the reconstructed open-air playhouse built by Shakespeare’s playing company and is followed by an acting workshop led by one of the Globe’s resident actors.

Return to school.
